The audience thought a goal was coming when Ernie von Axelson got free with Rex Bronstein in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 20 minutes into the match, Preston's goal looked a bit too open when Elmar Kremer came free, but Rex Bronstein reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vincent Huppert hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Laurent Hundhammer in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bart Hartmann saved F.C. Shalke Overligger from getting behind. Bart Hartmann stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Laurent Hundhammer's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Pol zu Castell-Rüdenhausen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind F.C. Shalke Overligger's goalkeeper Bart Hartmann, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Preston booed when F.C. Shalke Overligger was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yannick von Radowitz didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Preston's Rex Bronstein got control of the ball when Ernie von Axelson tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 42nd match minute, F.C. Shalke Overligger was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raphaël Groben to maneuver through the defense. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Laurent Hundhammer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. William Thimmesch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Bart Hartmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bart Hartmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laurent Hundhammer in the 55th minute of the match. After 59 played minutes Laurent Hundhammer rounded F.C. Shalke Overligger's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-2. Pol zu Castell-Rüdenhausen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Bart Hartmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bart Hartmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurent Hundhammer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vincent Huppert in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bart Hartmann prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 80th minute, Pol zu Castell-Rüdenhausen fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 82 minutes into the game, Laurent Hundhammer recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bart Hartmann. Laurent Hundhammer showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. In the 85th match minute, Preston was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by William Thimmesch to maneuver through the defense. Elmar Kremer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rex Bronstein having to interfere. Ernie von Axelson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Elmar Kremer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rex Bronstein having to interfere. Rex Bronstein didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for F.C. Shalke Overligger. The F.C. Shalke Overligger supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Preston's performance. The match ended with a win for Preston.
