FC Spadolini's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Cristoforo Contestabile showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Franco Nicolini, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. 16 minutes into the game, Domenico Addario was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sporting Roma's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Spadolini the free kick. After 16 played minutes Sporting Roma got a freekick which was hit by Domenico Addario. After 17 played minutes, FC Spadolini's Augusto Imperiale shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Pavlin Popsavov came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Spadolini reached it. After 18 minutes of play, Sporting Roma's Martin Ivaňo made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cristoforo Contestabile was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in FC Spadolini's zone, Ciro Natale stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cristoforo Contestabile came out of the goal and Ciro Natale tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ciro Natale missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 29 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Cristoforo Contestabile right hand side. In the 32nd minute of the match Eraldo Lattanzio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cristoforo Contestabile showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Ciro Natale had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cristoforo Contestabile. FC Spadolini's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ciro Natale was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. A collision led to FC Spadolini getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Eugenio Paganelli hit a great ball. Pavlin Popsavov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Amedeo Cicchetti in the 42nd minute. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Spadolini's goalkeeper Cristoforo Contestabile, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, Sporting Roma's Pavlin Popsavov got control of the ball when Amedeo Cicchetti tried to sneak it across the goal line. After the first half Sporting Roma were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

FC Spadolini's Cristoforo Contestabile proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save FC Spadolini from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Sporting Roma booed when FC Spadolini was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Concetto Corelli didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ciro Natale's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cristoforo Contestabile read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Martin Ivaňo in the 69thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Cristoforo Contestabile, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 70 minutes into the match, FC Spadolini's goal looked a bit too open when Ciro Natale came free, but Cristoforo Contestabile reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ennio Falcone's late challenge caught a Sporting Roma's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ciro Natale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristoforo Contestabile having to interfere. In the 96th minute of the match Eraldo Lattanzio sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cristoforo Contestabile skillfully saved the ball.
