The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Comunardo Di Mascio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fausto Zaino having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, Virgin Lover's goal looked a bit too open when Edoardo Speranza came free, but Biagio Iori reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 14 minutes into the game, COSTANZANA's Edoardo Speranza nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Biagio Iori made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After some careless play in the Virgin Lover defense, Edoardo Speranza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Biagio Iori. The Virgin Lover fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Biagio Iori should have stopped the shot. After having played for 25 minutes, Amos Pavlu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. COSTANZANA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Amos Pavlu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Biagio Iori made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amos Pavlu in the 28th minute of play. In the 31st match minute, Virgin Lover was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Comunardo Di Mascio to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Armin Pittelli during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 38th minute there was a penalty for COSTANZANA. Ferdinando Antonangeli stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Biagio Iori. 0-3. 44 minutes into the match, Edoardo Speranza notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Virgin Lover's Biagio Iori. Biagio Iori was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 48 minutes, Francesco Bomba mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Virgin Lover and the COSTANZANA players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 48 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Virgin Lover! The referee gave COSTANZANA a penalty, 51 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ferdinando Antonangeli, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Virgin Lover's Biagio Iori. 0-5. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Fausto Zaino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carmine Soccio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Donato Di Girolamo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 63 minutes of play, Virgin Lover's Carmine Soccio made it 1-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fausto Zaino was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Edoardo Speranza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 76thth minute of the game Edoardo Speranza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Virgin Lover's Biagio Iori was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Amos Pavlu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Comunardo Di Mascio fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Virgin Lover's protests and gave Comunardo Di Mascio a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Virgin Lover getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Comunardo Di Mascio hit a great ball. After 88 played minutes, COSTANZANA's Enzo Paris shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Biagio Iori came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in COSTANZANA reached it. The supporters of Virgin Lover booed when COSTANZANA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ciro De Tommasi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Donato Di Girolamo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Fausto Zaino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Edoardo Speranza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Biagio Iori was relentless in the 100th minute of the game. COSTANZANA's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
