Alberto Como started the match with the kick off. Frankie Biernat charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Frankie Biernat the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Vicenza booed when Pescara Calcio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frankie Biernat didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iordache Chiuzbaian in the 8th minute of play forced Vicenza's goalkeeper Ennio Prandini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 10th minute Bianco Pan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Soulis Vaggelis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pescara Calcio's goalkeeper Soulis Vaggelis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 18th minute, Angelo Venditti hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 22 minutes, Alberto Como made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Pescara Calcio's Soulis Vaggelis tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Ennio Prandini showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iordache Chiuzbaian in the 25th minute of the match. Alberto Como fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Soulis Vaggelis having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Iordache Chiuzbaian got free with Ennio Prandini in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After recieving a nice pass, Vicenza's Alberto Como tried to score from far away in the 31st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Vicenza's Ennio Prandini got control of the ball when László Kovács tried to sneak it across the goal line. 40 minutes had been played when some careless play by Vicenza's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Frankie Biernat was slow to take the kick. During this time Pescara Calcio's players had a chance to rest. Pescara Calcio's Frankie Biernat was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ennio Prandini in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Christian Prosperi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Soulis Vaggelis having to interfere. Alberto Como received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Soulis Vaggelis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Adriano Federici had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Iordache Chiuzbaian stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Vicenza were awarded a corner. Alberto Como went to the cornerflag to take it. Alberto Como made a great header on Vicenza's corner, it was just that Pescara Calcio's Soulis Vaggelis managed to reach the ball for a save. With his leg Soulis Vaggelis managed to avoid a goal in the 59thth minute, when Vicenza's Alberto Como fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Adriano Federici recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 70 minutes into the match, Iordache Chiuzbaian had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ennio Prandini. Vicenza's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Iordache Chiuzbaian was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Adriano Federici could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Soulis Vaggelis made a huge save. A hard shot 75 in the game by Alberto Como from a close distance when the talented Soulis Vaggelis managed to make a qualified save. Pescara Calcio's players were relieved. In the 77th minute, Angelo Venditti hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Pescara Calcio getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Frankie Biernat hit a great ball. Ennio Prandini showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iordache Chiuzbaian in the 82nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Pescara Calcio's László Kovács got a free kick in the 83rd minute. 84 minutes into the match, Vicenza's Adriano Federici sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Soulis Vaggelis narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Pescara Calcio getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Camillo Lucentini hit a great ball. Soulis Vaggelis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bianco Pan in the 88th minute. Alvise Ursini hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. In the 92nd minute of the game Cesare Liberati made a throw-in which Bianco Pan played forward.
