Bogumil Wieloch was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Ernesto Giandomenico came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Manfredonia Calcio 1932 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ernesto Giandomenico couldn't finish the play. In the 18th minute, Mateusz Smolarek made a precise shot to the right of Bogumil Wieloch. U.C. Sampdoria's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. Bogumil Wieloch came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Manfredonia Calcio 1932's Mateusz Smolarek. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bogumil Wieloch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ernesto Giandomenico in the 28th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mateusz Smolarek in the 37th minute of play forced U.C. Sampdoria's goalkeeper Bogumil Wieloch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manfredonia Calcio 1932's Ernesto Giandomenico got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mateusz Smolarek stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, U.C.
