In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind Spirito Vincente's goalkeeper Armando Mansueto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Alfonso Proietto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 9 minutes into the match, Ettore Di Croce notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Roberto baggi's Carter Cattaneo. Carter Cattaneo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 12th minute Alfonso Proietto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carter Cattaneo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 14 minutes into the match, Roberto baggi's Bruno Piccone sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Armando Mansueto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 16 minutes had been played when some careless play by Spirito Vincente's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Arrigo Motta was slow to take the kick. During this time Roberto baggi's players had a chance to rest. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bruno Piccone in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Armando Mansueto saved Spirito Vincente from getting behind. Spirito Vincente's Armando Mansueto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Spirito Vincente from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Alfredo Mazzocchi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Roberto baggi's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfredo Mazzocchi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Armando Mansueto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match clock showed 24 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Bruno Piccone sped through Spirito Vincente's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Armando Mansueto. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bruno Piccone got free with Armando Mansueto in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Bruno Piccone's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Armando Mansueto was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Carter Cattaneo came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Spirito Vincente's Alfonso Proietto. But to his dismay, Alfonso Proietto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Ettore Di Croce might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carter Cattaneo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ettore Di Croce ran back to his position shaking his head. Alfonso Proietto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carter Cattaneo having to interfere. The supporters of Spirito Vincente booed when Roberto baggi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernard Mol didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Spirito Vincente's Carter Pierucci tried to score from far away in the 45th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bruno Piccone stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 58th match minute, Roberto baggi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eraldo Larizza to maneuver through the defense. When Carter Pierucci came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Spirito Vincente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carter Pierucci couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Roberto baggi's Arrigo Motta got a free kick in the 60th minute. Armando Mansueto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruno Piccone in the 63rd minute of play. Armando Mansueto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bruno Piccone's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. After a rather tough play, Spirito Vincente's Ferdinando Della Torre got a free kick in the 66th minute. In the 71st minute, Fedele Sciarretta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carter Cattaneo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ettore Di Croce, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Roberto baggi's Carter Cattaneo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfonso Proietto in the 94th minute of play. After having played for 95 minutes, Alfredo Mazzocchi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Roberto baggi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfredo Mazzocchi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Roberto baggi's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
