The referee ignored FC Rieti's protests and gave Ennio Manzo a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 18th minute of the game. One of FC Rieti:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Guantai:s goal. After 22 minutes of play, Guantai's Donato Sammartano made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hans Stenqvist was left in no man's land by his defense there! Iwo Zdanowicz hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Hans Stenqvist came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Guantai's Alberigo Muciaccia. But to his dismay, Alberigo Muciaccia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flavio Zacchia in the 28th minute of play forced FC Rieti's goalkeeper Hans Stenqvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 36 minutes into the match, Flavio Zacchia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hans Stenqvist. FC Rieti's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Flavio Zacchia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-6. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Flavio Zacchia in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hans Stenqvist saved FC Rieti from getting behind. If Federico Riva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 43rd match minute, Guantai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Florian Guerrieri to maneuver through the defense. Disappointed in the 0-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Flavio Zacchia to strike the kick off in the second half. With an all-out effort, Guantai's Hans Stenqvist threw himself towards the right post 57 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Flavio Zacchia, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. FC Rieti's Hans Stenqvist proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save FC Rieti from getting a goal against them. Flavio Zacchia was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 60th minute. Guantai's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Guantai's Donato Sammartano got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flavio Zacchia in the 63rd minute of play forced FC Rieti's goalkeeper Hans Stenqvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Florian Guerrieri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hans Stenqvist having to interfere. Federico Riva blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hans Stenqvist having to make a save. When Flavio Zacchia came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Guantai fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Flavio Zacchia couldn't finish the play. Donato Sammartano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hans Stenqvist having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 70th minute by Flavio Zacchia got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Donato Sammartano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Hans Stenqvist made a huge save. The supporters of Guantai booed when FC Rieti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fausto Giancola didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 75 played minutes FC Rieti got a freekick which was hit by Filippo Barresi. Florian Guerrieri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hans Stenqvist having to interfere. FC Rieti's Hans Stenqvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Flavio Zacchia in the 78th minute of play. Hans Stenqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donato Sammartano, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Florian Guerrieri hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. If Florian Guerrieri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 83 minutes into the game, Donato Sammartano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-7. Hans Stenqvist was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 87 minutes into the match, FC Rieti's goal looked a bit too open when Flavio Zacchia came free, but Hans Stenqvist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 88th minute of the match Guantai got a corner. FC Rieti's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Alberigo Muciaccia ran over to the corner to take the kick. 91 minutes in the game, Florian Guerrieri fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Hans Stenqvist having to interfere. In the 92nd minute, Federico Riva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Federico Riva blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hans Stenqvist having to make a save. The supporters of Guantai booed when FC Rieti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Santana didn't get a good kick on the ball. Guantai played a much better game than FC Rieti and deserved their victory. The FC Rieti players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
