Paulo Renato Bittencourt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Liu Xing Qiang having to interfere. Ivan Vlaykovski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serafim Malta in the 18th minute of play. Octavian Humă hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Francesco Coscia came free with the goalkeeper in the 32nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
