Hans á Bø might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tommy Nielsen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hans á Bø ran back to his position shaking his head. Jónhard í Skorini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. John Szekeres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hjalgrím Davy Sylla in the 17th minute of play forced Víkingur Göta's goalkeeper John Szekeres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Skálafjørður's Jónhard í Skorini got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 21 minutes, Jóhan Jacobsen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Víkingur Göta and the Skálafjørður players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Skálafjørður booed when Víkingur Göta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jóhan Jacobsen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hjalgrím Davy Sylla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Szekeres having to interfere. Tommy Nielsen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rógvi Simonsen in the 27th minute of play. John Samuelsen kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. 31 minutes into the game, Skálafjørður's Jónhard í Skorini nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. John Szekeres made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Hans á Bø recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Rógvi Simonsen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Víkingur Göta's supporters rose to their feet, but Rógvi Simonsen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommy Nielsen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Hans á Bø came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Víkingur Göta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hans á Bø couldn't finish the play. Rógvi Simonsen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Nielsen having to interfere. In the 45th minute of the match, Rógvi Simonsen tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tommy Nielsen saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The Víkingur Göta players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Skálafjørður were winning 0-1.

The wind increased when Hjalgrím Davy Sylla made the kick off in the second half. Jákup Kruse's late challenge caught a Skálafjørður's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jákup Kruse helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Víkingur Göta's Jákup Kruse got a free kick in the 59th minute. Hjalgrím Davy Sylla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 65 minutes, Hans á Bø managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Víkingur Göta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hans á Bø was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jann Thorsteinsson hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Rógvi Simonsen struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Tommy Nielsen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Víkingur Göta. The supporters of Víkingur Göta booed when Skálafjørður was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. John Samuelsen didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Víkingur Göta fans' excitement grew in the 92nd match minute when Víkingur Göta's Rógvi Simonsen looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Tommy Nielsen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rógvi Simonsen in the 97th minute of play.
