Though ot was a great shot Víkingur Göta's keeper John Szekeres was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. After 17 played minutes Víkingur Göta got a freekick which was hit by Jákup Kruse. John Szekeres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hjalgrím Davy Sylla in the 24th minute of play. Janus Simonsen hit a great ball. If Jónhard í Skorini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Hjalgrím Davy Sylla's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but John Szekeres read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Víkingur Göta's zone, Jónhard í Skorini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. John Szekeres came out of the goal and Jónhard í Skorini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 42 minutes into the match, Víkingur Göta's Rógvi Simonsen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tommy Nielsen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 48th minute, Hans á Bø got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rógvi Simonsen to strike the kick off in the second half. Tommy Nielsen made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Hans á Bø sent off a good shot on target. Rógvi Simonsen kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 59th minute by Hans á Bø got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Rógvi Simonsen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Tommy Nielsen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rógvi Simonsen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Rógvi Simonsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rógvi Simonsen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rógvi Simonsen was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 76th minute. Víkingur Göta's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. If Rógvi Simonsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Skálafjørður's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hjalgrím Davy Sylla was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jónhard í Skorini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Szekeres having to interfere. Rógvi Simonsen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Despite being the better team, Víkingur Göta failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
