The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lawrence Calvo during the 2nd minute. Juan Castaño might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carmelo Salgado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Juan Castaño ran back to his position shaking his head. Pepe Campoamor kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. In the 18th match minute, Torrevieja FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pepe Campoamor to maneuver through the defense. In the 21st minute, Oso Cabrera ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marino Serrano was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After some careless play in the Torrevieja FC defense, Adolfo Redondo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carmelo Salgado. The Torrevieja FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carmelo Salgado should have stopped the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Juan Castaño kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Carmelo Salgado. That made the score 2-1 in the 35 minute of play. After having played for 41 minutes, Oso Cabrera managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Torrevieja FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oso Cabrera was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Adolfo Redondo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The wind increased when Adolfo Redondo made the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Torrevieja FC defense, Adolfo Redondo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carmelo Salgado. The Torrevieja FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carmelo Salgado should have stopped the shot. 57 minutes into the match, Playa de Comarruga's Adolfo Redondo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carmelo Salgado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Oso Cabrera came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Torrevieja FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oso Cabrera couldn't finish the play. Carmelo Salgado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juan Castaño, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 72nd minute, Juan Castaño got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carmelo Salgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adolfo Redondo in the 74th minute of play. Carmelo Salgado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adolfo Redondo, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Pepe Campoamor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
