Spectators: 7254 (Terracing: 5800, Seating: 1300, VIP seats: 154) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Blas Beloki got the match started through his kick off. In the 3rd minute, Blas Beloki made a precise shot to the right of Gaizka Litago. FC Gualtrapas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Palamós's zone, Hipolito Valentine stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raymond Montiel came out of the goal and Hipolito Valentine tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Hipolito Valentine managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Gualtrapas's supporters rose to their feet, but Hipolito Valentine was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Raymond Montiel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hipolito Valentine in the 16th minute of play forced Palamós's goalkeeper Raymond Montiel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gaizka Litago stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Blas Beloki's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Blas Beloki received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Gaizka Litago tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC Gualtrapas's Gaizka Litago played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blas Beloki in the 28th minute of play. Hipolito Valentine hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the FC Gualtrapas defense, Rico Calvo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gaizka Litago. The FC Gualtrapas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gaizka Litago should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Blas Beloki's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gaizka Litago was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. After the first half Palamós were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hipolito Valentine to make the kick off. Hanot Rosario recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hanot Rosario fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaizka Litago having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Almarín Pedriza during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Almarín Pedriza hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Blas Beloki in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gaizka Litago saved FC Gualtrapas from getting behind. Blas Beloki who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 64thth minute tested the skills of Gaizka Litago when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Gaizka Litago made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hanot Rosario in the 69th minute. Rico Calvo's late challenge caught a FC Gualtrapas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rico Calvo helped the player get up and apologised. Rico Calvo kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. 73 minutes into the match, FC Gualtrapas's goal looked a bit too open when Blas Beloki came free, but Gaizka Litago reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 78 minutes into the match, FC Gualtrapas's goalkeeper Gaizka Litago had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Blas Beloki. 82 minutes into the match, Palamós's goal looked a bit too open when Almarín Pedriza came free, but Raymond Montiel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pierres Alonso kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Iratze Aguilar hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Gaizka Litago showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hanot Rosario in the 85th minute of the match. FC Gualtrapas's Gaizka Litago played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rico Calvo in the 91st minute of play. The Palamós supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Palamós would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
