After having played for 44 minutes, Ehrhard Hourani managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gladbach's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ehrhard Hourani was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ehrhard Hourani struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Heiko Huffschmid didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gladbach.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lovis Urgien was the one to do the kick off. Heiko Huffschmid made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ewald Rau in the 57th minute of play. 60 minutes into the match, Gladbach's goal looked a bit too open when Lovis Urgien came free, but Dietmar Gingold reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dietmar Gingold showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lovis Urgien, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Kurt Sonnenberg, 89 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal.
