Süderhof's supporters rose to their feet, but Matthias Kielmayer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Amatus Hardel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind VfL Wolfsburg's goalkeeper Amatus Hardel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hansjürgen Nikoleit showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christos Rietentiet in the 46th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tommy Bracher stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Amatus Hardel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Simon Achterbach in the 55th minute of play. Christos Rietentiet's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hansjürgen Nikoleit read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
