Spectators: 7496 (Terracing: 5623, Seating: 1724, VIP seats: 149) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Hellmut Balterschütz started the match with the kick off. Hellmut Balterschütz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ferit Petzolt read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 3rd minute of play. FC Würzburger Kickers's Lou Rockstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rainer Hollinghausen in the 6th minute of play. Ferit Petzolt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Claus Nomayo in the 9th minute. Eckehard Dupke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Lou Rockstein tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 11th match minute, FC Würzburger Kickers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Volker Glöden to maneuver through the defense. FC Würzburger Kickers's Lou Rockstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eckehard Dupke in the 12th minute of play. The supporters of FC Würzburger Kickers booed when FC Ormont was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hubertus Paziorek didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Hellmut Balterschütz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 25th minute Eckehard Dupke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lou Rockstein saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to FC Würzburger Kickers getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Christof Wagener hit a great ball. A collision led to FC Ormont getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Holger Hütt-Berger hit a great ball. Lou Rockstein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hubertus Paziorek in the 30th minute of play. Rainer Hollinghausen scored 0-1 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lou Rockstein, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ole Künzer charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ole Künzer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ole Künzer hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. A hard shot 42 in the game by Claus Nomayo from a close distance when the talented Ferit Petzolt managed to make a qualified save. FC Ormont's players were relieved. 46 minutes into the match, FC Würzburger Kickers's goal looked a bit too open when Rainer Hollinghausen came free, but Lou Rockstein reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the FC Würzburger Kickers defense, Christoph Dähne kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lou Rockstein. The FC Würzburger Kickers fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lou Rockstein should have stopped the shot. After the first half FC Ormont were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Lou Rockstein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rainer Hollinghausen in the 56th minute of play. With an all-out effort, FC Ormont's Lou Rockstein threw himself towards the right post 58 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Rainer Hollinghausen, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Lou Rockstein came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Ormont's Eckehard Dupke. But to his dismay, Eckehard Dupke quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. In the last second Lou Rockstein throw himself and got hold of the ball when Rainer Hollinghausen in the 69thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Lou Rockstein took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rainer Hollinghausen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Hellmut Balterschütz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ferit Petzolt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claus Nomayo, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rainer Hollinghausen during the 84th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Eckehard Dupke kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. In the 90th minute, Christoph Dähne left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Ormont fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. With a little luck, FC Würzburger Kickers's Lou Rockstein got control of the ball when Eckehard Dupke tried to sneak it across the goal line.
