After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Norbert Weisbrod managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Seßlach's supporters rose to their feet, but Norbert Weisbrod was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Xerxes Hauffen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Xerxes Hauffen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Norbert Weisbrod in the 8th minute of the match. In the 11thth minute of the game Sergej Maluga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Seßlach's Odo Haupt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in FC Kusel's zone, Philo Wilkendorf stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Xerxes Hauffen came out of the goal and Philo Wilkendorf tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Odo Haupt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sergej Maluga, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. It was beautiful to see FC Kusel's Siegfried Hug in action when he in the 19th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! After 22 played minutes FC Kusel got a freekick which was hit by Bastiaan Trube. Norbert Weisbrod sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Odo Haupt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergej Maluga in the 28th minute of the match. FC Seßlach's Johan Kallenbrunnen quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Tom Bentin, made in the 37th minute of the game. When Bastian Ebbing fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Kusel's protests and gave Bastian Ebbing a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 38th minute of the game. One of FC Kusel:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC Seßlach:s goal. In the 46th minute, Sergej Maluga ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Odo Haupt was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Norbert Weisbrod to make the kick off. Odo Haupt made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Lars Brüning sent off a good shot on target. 54 minutes into the match, FC Seßlach's goal looked a bit too open when Sergej Maluga came free, but Odo Haupt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Xerxes Hauffen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Norbert Weisbrod's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. FC Seßlach's Odo Haupt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergej Maluga in the 59th minute of play. Philo Wilkendorf might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Xerxes Hauffen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Philo Wilkendorf ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 71st minute, Norman Grob made a precise shot to the right of Xerxes Hauffen. FC Kusel's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Xerxes Hauffen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Norbert Weisbrod in the 80th minute of play. FC Seßlach's Daniel Joosten got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 86th minute of the match, Sergej Maluga tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Odo Haupt saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
