The supporters of Helsinghausen FC booed when Altensiel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erik Schlumberger didn't get a good kick on the ball. Helsinghausen FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 22nd minute, when Klemens Schwarz scored to the left of an out of position Jannik Brenner, making the score, 1-1. In the 26th match minute, Helsinghausen FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ingo Labouvie to maneuver through the defense. In the 30th minute, Bastian Sitzler got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hannes Domeier kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. 36 minutes into the match, Altensiel's goal looked a bit too open when Robert Damovsky came free, but Theo Reißig reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th minute Robert Damovsky shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Theo Reißig saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Theo Reißig showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Damovsky in the 40th minute of the match. Bastian Sitzler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Theo Reißig tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mads Lucke charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mads Lucke the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 47th minute, Yildiray Ernst ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Theo Reißig was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Klemens Schwarz made a kick off. When Robert Damovsky came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Helsinghausen FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robert Damovsky couldn't finish the play. In the 54th minute, Erik Schlumberger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ronald Kömm during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ignaz Heidrich walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. After having played for 60 minutes, Theo Falk managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Altensiel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Theo Falk was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 65 minutes into the match, Altensiel's Theo Falk sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jannik Brenner narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Takeshi Lung's late challenge caught a Helsinghausen FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Takeshi Lung helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Helsinghausen FC booed when Altensiel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Takeshi Lung didn't get a good kick on the ball. Theo Reißig made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert Damovsky in the 70th minute of play. A collision led to Helsinghausen FC getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Yildiray Ernst hit a great ball. Erik Schlumberger got his second yellow card in the match during the 82nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Theo Reißig made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bastian Sitzler in the 87th minute. If Theo Falk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bastian Sitzlers short, quick shot in the 93rdth minute got Theo Reißig to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Hannes Domeier hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. In the 99th minute, Gregor Kreuzmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Helsinghausen FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Helsinghausen FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
