Hamburger SV's Ehrhard Hasse played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rainer Campe in the 5th minute of play. In the 6th minute, Markus Goldenbogen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ehrhard Hasse came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by Detzem's Rainer Campe. But to his dismay, Rainer Campe quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 13 minutes into the match, Hamburger SV's goal looked a bit too open when Wolfram Ridder came free, but Ehrhard Hasse reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Paulo Punke took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Markus Goldenbogen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 19 minutes into the game, Herbert Neumann cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Paulo Punke was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gil Kick's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ehrhard Hasse read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Wolfram Ridder struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Ehrhard Hasse didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Detzem. After a defensive mix-up in Hamburger SV's zone, Hermann Grunert stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ehrhard Hasse came out of the goal and Hermann Grunert tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ehrhard Hasse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wolfram Ridder, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 37th minute Detzem were awarded a corner. Hermann Grunert went to the cornerflag to take it. Ehrhard Hasse showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gil Kick in the 38th minute of the match. In the 39th minute, Roland Strässer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 41st match minute, Hamburger SV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Herbert Neumann to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Hamburger SV booed when Detzem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lars Mühlfenzl didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 44th minute of the match Jan Hänssler shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Paulo Punke showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Wolfram Ridder sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hermann Grunert fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ehrhard Hasse having to interfere. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The supporters of Hamburger SV booed when Detzem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lars Mühlfenzl didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Jungwirth in the 57th minute of play forced Detzem's goalkeeper Paulo Punke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wolfram Ridder sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Gil Kick managed to get in a good position for a shot. Detzem's supporters rose to their feet, but Gil Kick was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ehrhard Hasse breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Paulo Punke showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martin Jungwirth in the 68th minute of the match. After 69 minutes of play, Detzem's Gil Kick made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ehrhard Hasse was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jan Hänssler kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Ehrhard Hasse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hermann Grunert in the 76th minute of play. Hermann Grunert who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 80thth minute tested the skills of Ehrhard Hasse when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 83 minutes of play, Detzem's Gil Kick made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ehrhard Hasse was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 86th minute, Rainer Campe reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ehrhard Hasse. The goal made the score 1-4. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Gil Kick managed to get in a good position for a shot. Detzem's supporters rose to their feet, but Gil Kick was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ehrhard Hasse breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hermann Grunert might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ehrhard Hasse. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hermann Grunert ran back to his position shaking his head. The Hamburger SV fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Detzem were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
