In the 4th minute, Julius Dominicus sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Detzem's Paulo Punke didn't even have to move. If Hermann Grunert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 8th minute, Gil Kick left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Detzem fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Detzem's Rainer Campe got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pjotr List showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wolfram Ridder, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. After some careless play in the Sterzenbach defense, Hermann Grunert kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pjotr List. The Sterzenbach fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pjotr List should have stopped the shot. Paulo Punke made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harro Graichen in the 20th minute of play. With a little luck, Detzem's Paulo Punke got control of the ball when Richard Kurtz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hermann Grunert received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Pjotr List tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Hermann Grunert's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pjotr List was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. 28 minutes into the match, Sterzenbach's goal looked a bit too open when Gil Kick came free, but Pjotr List reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Sterzenbach's Harro Graichen slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Paulo Punke. That made the score 1-2 after 32 minutes of play. Ingo Schubert might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paulo Punke. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ingo Schubert ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Detzem getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Albin Schäfer hit a great ball. Paulo Punke took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ingo Schubert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Richard Kurtz got free with Paulo Punke in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

If Rainer Campe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Detzem's zone, Richard Kurtz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Punke came out of the goal and Richard Kurtz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Richard Kurtz in the 55th minute of play forced Detzem's goalkeeper Paulo Punke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 56 played minutes Sterzenbach got a freekick which was hit by Sigurd Montag. If Wolfram Ridder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 63 minutes into the match, Wolfram Ridder dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Pjotr List, 1-3. After 67 played minutes Sterzenbach got a freekick which was hit by Richard Kurtz. Ingo Schubert fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Punke having to interfere. 2-3 became the score in the 71st minute when Harro Graichen elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After having played for 75 minutes, Rainer Campe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Detzem's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rainer Campe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Detzem's Paulo Punke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Richard Kurtz in the 77th minute of play. Hermann Grunert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 80 minutes into the match, Sterzenbach's goalkeeper Pjotr List had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gil Kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Harro Graichen in the 88th minute of play forced Detzem's goalkeeper Paulo Punke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rainer Campe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rainer Campe came free with the goalkeeper in the 89th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Pjotr List could save by the left post. Wolfram Ridder struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Pjotr List didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Detzem. Detzem's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
