Match Report

Hubert Houben
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0)
Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Herbert Stube started the match with the kick off. Emanuel Wissing kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. Herbert Stube fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Schirmer having to interfere. 5 minutes into the match, Preussen Krefeld II's goal looked a bit too open when Gil Plum came free, but Oswald Kuch reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 6 minutes, Dominik Althenn mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Preussen Krefeld II and the Gersheim players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Preussen Krefeld II's Dominik Althenn got a free kick in the 6th minute. Herbert Stube sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Preussen Krefeld II defense, Gil Plum kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Oswald Kuch. The Preussen Krefeld II fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Oswald Kuch should have stopped the shot. After having played for 19 minutes, Täve Echterhoff managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Preussen Krefeld II's supporters crossed their fingers, but Täve Echterhoff was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Herbert Stube in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thomas Schirmer saved Gersheim from getting behind. Oswald Kuch took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paul Suhrke, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd minute, Florin Gottmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thomas Schirmer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herbert Stube, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Almut Hambückers's late challenge caught a Preussen Krefeld II's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Almut Hambückers helped the player get up and apologised. After 30 played minutes Gersheim got a freekick which was hit by Almut Hambückers. Herbert Stube received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Thomas Schirmer came out and tried to block the shot, but Herbert Stube slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 31st minute. Oswald Kuch didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paul Suhrke went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Oswald Kuch came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by Gersheim's Jörg Hupach. But to his dismay, Jörg Hupach quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. 41 minutes into the match, Preussen Krefeld II's goal looked a bit too open when Jörg Hupach came free, but Oswald Kuch reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Preussen Krefeld II's Herbert Stube got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

MVP
Gil Plum

The wind increased when Bobby Enderle made the kick off in the second half. After 50 played minutes Gersheim got a freekick which was hit by Gil Plum. If Dominik Althenn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Herbert Stube in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Thomas Schirmer prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Gersheim getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Bobby Enderle hit a great ball. Dominik Althenn recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match had gone on for 65 minutes, Jörg Hupach took a quick shot and it went in 1-5 without a chance for Oswald Kuch to make any attempt to save it. 69 minutes into the match, Preussen Krefeld II's goalkeeper Oswald Kuch had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jörg Hupach. In the 70th minute Jörg Hupach shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oswald Kuch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 72nd minute, Gil Plum made a precise shot to the right of Oswald Kuch. Preussen Krefeld II's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-6. In the 76th minute, Gersheim's Gil Plum ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Oswald Kuch. Oswald Kuch yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-7. Oswald Kuch showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jörg Hupach, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Gersheim's Thomas Schirmer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Täve Echterhoff in the 80th minute of play. In the 82nd minute, Gersheim's Jörg Hupach dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-8. 85 minutes into the game, Täve Echterhoff was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Preussen Krefeld II's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gersheim the free kick. With a little luck, Preussen Krefeld II's Oswald Kuch got control of the ball when Gil Plum tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Gersheim getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Almut Hambückers hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Gersheim's zone, Täve Echterhoff stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomas Schirmer came out of the goal and Täve Echterhoff tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 94 minutes into the match, Gil Plum had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Oswald Kuch. Preussen Krefeld II's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gil Plum was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-9. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Gersheim eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
