Richard Kurtz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Thomas Schirmer having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Richard Kurtz got free with Thomas Schirmer in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Harro Graichen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pjotr List showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gil Plum in the 41st minute of the match. Harro Graichen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Schirmer having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

53 minutes into the game, Harro Graichen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Thomas Schirmer was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Gil Plum came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Gersheim fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gil Plum couldn't finish the play. Bobby Enderle's late challenge caught a Sterzenbach's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bobby Enderle helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Gersheim's Bobby Enderle got a free kick in the 64th minute. Thomas Schirmer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 86th minute, Jörg Hupach hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thomas Schirmer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Richard Kurtz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Richard Kurtz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Schirmer having to interfere. After some careless play in the Gersheim defense, Harro Graichen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Thomas Schirmer. The Gersheim fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Thomas Schirmer should have stopped the shot.
