Wolf Szymczakowski hit a great ball. 7 minutes into the match, Wolf Szymczakowski had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joakim Himmelmann. Vörös Lobogó FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wolf Szymczakowski was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Joakim Himmelmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rudolf Roese, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Vörös Lobogó FC's Zenobio Brömme got a free kick in the 17th minute. 21 minutes into the match, Vörös Lobogó FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rudolf Roese came free, but Joakim Himmelmann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 26 minutes into the game, Rudolf Roese was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. 1.FC Union Berlin's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vörös Lobogó FC the free kick. After 26 played minutes 1.FC Union Berlin got a freekick which was hit by Rudolf Roese. In the 29th minute Thomas Popp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michael Schraier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute, Volker Dirks left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vörös Lobogó FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Hieronymus Peschke kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Zenobio Brömme hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. The supporters of 1.FC Union Berlin booed when Vörös Lobogó FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Velten Majewski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alban Berlingen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Michael Schraier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 52nd minute, Alban Berlingen made a precise shot to the right of Michael Schraier. 1.FC Union Berlin's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Michael Schraier made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Thomas Popp sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Thomas Popp got free with Michael Schraier in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 70 played minutes 1.FC Union Berlin got a freekick which was hit by Gerard Hunold. 72 minutes into the game, Edzard Werling threw the ball into play from the sideline. Vörös Lobogó FC's Zenobio Brömme quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Volker Dirks blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Michael Schraier having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Wolf Szymczakowski managed to get in a good position for a shot. 1.FC Union Berlin's supporters rose to their feet, but Wolf Szymczakowski was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joakim Himmelmann breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Volker Dirks in the 81st minute of play forced 1.FC Union Berlin's goalkeeper Michael Schraier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Thomas Popp in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Michael Schraier saved 1.FC Union Berlin from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Thomas Popp kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Michael Schraier. That made the score 1-3 in the 89 minute of play. Vörös Lobogó FC played a much better game than 1.FC Union Berlin and deserved their victory. The 1.FC Union Berlin players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
