In the 37th minute of the match Werner Krampitz sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gatis Fernandes skillfully saved the ball. Gatis Fernandes was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. 73 minutes into the match, Górnik Zabrze's goal looked a bit too open when Anton Bereths came free, but Gatis Fernandes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sven Schindler could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Gatis Fernandes made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sven Schindler got free with Gatis Fernandes in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 79 minutes into the game, Kristi Rusin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Górnik Zabrze's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Drögenbostel FSV the free kick.
