Monterrey FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Placido Süßmann was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stefan Ortlieb breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 10th minute Henning Amann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fred Rudloff saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute of the match Tim Jahns shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fred Rudloff showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Benni Ullmann's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fred Rudloff read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. Henning Amann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Fred Rudloff tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fred Rudloff showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benni Ullmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. 66 minutes into the game, FC Herne 08's Benni Ullmann nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fred Rudloff made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. FC Herne 08's Benni Ullmann got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Henning Amann came free with the goalkeeper in the 79th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Fred Rudloff could save by the left post. Fred Rudloff showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benni Ullmann in the 92nd minute of the match.
