The Steffen Hitzler was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After 47 played minutes FC Weser Bremen got a freekick which was hit by Imre Thillmann. The Rubensburg players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. FC Weser Bremen were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Axel Eberhardt to make the kick off. After having played for 53 minutes, Mischa Vinkemeier managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rubensburg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mischa Vinkemeier was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Jürgen Miskiewicz came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Rubensburg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jürgen Miskiewicz couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Mischa Vinkemeier managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rubensburg's supporters rose to their feet, but Mischa Vinkemeier was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Steffen Hitzler breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 65 minutes, Eike Reifenstein mouthed his way into the referee's book.
