The supporters of Meyer Zu Bargholz booed when LTSC Wasserbillig was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Torben Graf didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Gernot Witty's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Herrmann Kanoneks was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. The supporters of LTSC Wasserbillig booed when Meyer Zu Bargholz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Helmar Kissling didn't get a good kick on the ball. Willi Renz was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 41st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Manfred Bühler got free with Volker Bretzel in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 54th minute, Sven Aschenbrenner fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Herrmann Kanoneks, passed just outside the right post. After 57 minutes of play, LTSC Wasserbillig's Valentin Heinrichs made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Volker Bretzel was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gernot Witty blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Herrmann Kanoneks having to make a save. Tim Werner charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tim Werner the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, LTSC Wasserbillig's Tim Werner got a free kick in the 66th minute. 68 minutes into the match, Meyer Zu Bargholz's goal looked a bit too open when Manfred Bühler came free, but Volker Bretzel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gernot Witty struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Herrmann Kanoneks didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Meyer Zu Bargholz. When Gernot Witty came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Meyer Zu Bargholz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gernot Witty couldn't finish the play. In the 73rd minute, Valentin Heinrichs got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Meyer Zu Bargholz's goalkeeper Volker Bretzel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sven Aschenbrenner in the 78th minute of play forced LTSC Wasserbillig's goalkeeper Herrmann Kanoneks to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ari Topka recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manfred Bühler in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Volker Bretzel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Manfred Bühler managed to get in a good position for a shot. LTSC Wasserbillig's supporters rose to their feet, but Manfred Bühler was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Volker Bretzel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sven Aschenbrenner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to LTSC Wasserbillig getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Martin Bäcker hit a great ball. Meyer Zu Bargholz's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
