The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jo Jahn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eckard Tilk having to interfere. After 14 played minutes SV Wehen Wiesbaden got a freekick which was hit by Roland Sporer. Zvonimir Fritz kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Bruce Korsus managed to get in a good position for a shot. Auermühle's supporters rose to their feet, but Bruce Korsus was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ursus Pfeffer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ursus Pfeffer didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Michael Bährchen went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Bruce Korsus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bruce Korsus stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, SV Wehen Wiesbaden's goalkeeper Ursus Pfeffer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Michael Bährchen. In the 56th minute, Zvonimir Fritz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ursus Pfeffer made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Michael Bährchen sent off a good shot on target. Ersan Weidlandt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eckard Tilk read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. Bruce Korsus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Ursus Pfeffer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Auermühle's Eckard Tilk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jo Jahn in the 66th minute of play. Michael Bährchen's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 71stth minute, Ursus Pfeffer skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 82 minutes into the match, Auermühle's goal looked a bit too open when Ersan Weidlandt came free, but Eckard Tilk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 84th minute Bruce Korsus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ursus Pfeffer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 90th minute, Jo Jahn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 91st minute, Wolfram Benken hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 92nd minute Ersan Weidlandt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eckard Tilk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Auermühle supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Auermühle would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
