Spectators: 6716 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1716, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Hennes Hens started the match with the kick off. In the 3rdth minute of the game Domenico Wild who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fortuna Selbach's Dolf Lang was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Toni Fuchs's late challenge caught a Fortuna Selbach's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Toni Fuchs helped the player get up and apologised. Peppo Held kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. 7 minutes into the match, Fortuna Selbach's Fabian Skrotzki broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. With a little luck, schalke 04's Heiner Sandt got control of the ball when Hennes Hens tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 13th minute Hennes Hens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Heiner Sandt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 18th minute by Dennis Erhard got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Hennes Hens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Domenico Wild recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 31 minutes into the match, schalke 04's Toni Fuchs sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dolf Lang narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Fortuna Selbach's goalkeeper Dolf Lang, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dolf Lang showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Domenico Wild, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Domenico Wild in the 37th minute of play forced Fortuna Selbach's goalkeeper Dolf Lang to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fortuna Selbach's goalkeeper Dolf Lang, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Domenico Wild made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, schalke 04's Domenico Wild ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dolf Lang. Dolf Lang yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. When Ellis Senftleben fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fortuna Selbach's protests and gave Ellis Senftleben a yellow card for diving instead. Tore Hemker placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Domenico Wild received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Dolf Lang tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dolf Lang took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Domenico Wild, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcus Austen's late challenge caught a Fortuna Selbach's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marcus Austen helped the player get up and apologised. Marcus Austen hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dennis Erhard in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Heiner Sandt saved schalke 04 from getting behind. In the 75th match minute, schalke 04 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edson Braun to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 77 minutes, Hennes Hens managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fortuna Selbach's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hennes Hens was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Domenico Wild in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dolf Lang saved Fortuna Selbach from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Domenico Wild in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dolf Lang prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Udo Kranz charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Udo Kranz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Fortuna Selbach's Udo Kranz got a free kick in the 86th minute. 87 minutes into the match, Toni Fuchs had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dolf Lang. Fortuna Selbach's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Toni Fuchs was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Heiner Sandt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Udo Kranz went, in the 92nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Domenico Wild scored 1-4 in the 98th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dolf Lang, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The schalke 04 supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing schalke 04 would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
