Spectators: 6971 (Terracing: 5621, Seating: 1250, VIP seats: 100) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Manfred Kreikemeyer started the match with the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Toni Dahlinger during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Toni Dahlinger kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, CF Nürnberg Kickers's Helge Northe got a free kick in the 8th minute. Rottne's Lucien Ackermann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Toni Dahlinger in the 12th minute of play. Lucien Ackermann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jürn Dehm in the 15th minute of play. In the 17th match minute, CF Nürnberg Kickers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Franz Bethke to maneuver through the defense. Lucien Ackermann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manfred Kreikemeyer, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. After 27 minutes, Christoph Laukenmann made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. CF Nürnberg Kickers's Heinz Fischer tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Rottne's goalkeeper Lucien Ackermann, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 34th minute Helge Northe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucien Ackermann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Simon Gudd in the 39th minute of play forced CF Nürnberg Kickers's goalkeeper Heinz Fischer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. During the 40th minute of the match Helge Northe completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Helge Northe a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Helge Northe hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. The supporters of CF Nürnberg Kickers booed when Rottne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michael Kull didn't get a good kick on the ball. Guy Rust struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Heinz Fischer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rottne. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Christoph Laukenmann was the one to do the kick off. CF Nürnberg Kickers's Heinz Fischer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christoph Laukenmann in the 52nd minute of play. Lucien Ackermann made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Jürn Dehm sent off a good shot on target. Jürn Dehm kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 64thth minute. Though ot was a great shot Rottne's keeper Lucien Ackermann was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Michael Kull hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Jürn Dehm could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Lucien Ackermann made a huge save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Christoph Laukenmann in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Heinz Fischer prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 74th minute, Simon Gudd left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Rottne fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After 78 minutes of play CF Nürnberg Kickers's Franz Bethke was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 81st minute of the match Egmont Blache shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Heinz Fischer showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 84th minute Christoph Laukenmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Heinz Fischer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Simon Gudd managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rottne's supporters rose to their feet, but Simon Gudd was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Heinz Fischer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 89thth minute of the game Christoph Laukenmann who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CF Nürnberg Kickers's Heinz Fischer was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Christoph Laukenmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Heinz Fischer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Christoph Laukenmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Simon Gudd came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Rottne fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Simon Gudd couldn't finish the play.
