The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wayne Püst got free with Nick Patrzek in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christoph Resch in the 9th minute of play forced Elzweiler FSV's goalkeeper Nick Patrzek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marco Limburg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Wayne Püst had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Elzweiler FSV's Nick Patrzek proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Elzweiler FSV from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roy Mertens in the 23rd minute of play forced Rübeer's goalkeeper Ortwin Pechmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ortwin Pechmann came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Elzweiler FSV's Marco Limburg. But to his dismay, Marco Limburg quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Ortwin Pechmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roy Mertens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Marco Limburg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Elzweiler FSV defense, Wayne Püst kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nick Patrzek. The Elzweiler FSV fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nick Patrzek should have stopped the shot.

Elzweiler FSV's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
