An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnd Vuranoglu in the 22nd minute of play forced sad's goalkeeper Hermann Wilhelmsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hermann Wilhelmsen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lutz Öchsle in the 25th minute of play. Henning Ripoll sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. sad's Hermann Wilhelmsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lutz Öchsle in the 29th minute of play. With a little luck, Ludwigsburg's Isidor Arendt got control of the ball when Bolko Kalleder tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hermann Wilhelmsen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lutz Öchsle's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. 41 minutes had been played when some careless play by sad's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Henning Ripoll was slow to take the kick. During this time Ludwigsburg's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Martin Meier heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. 43 minutes into the match, sad's goal looked a bit too open when Henning Ripoll came free, but Hermann Wilhelmsen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Ludwigsburg booed when sad was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mario Gliesche didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hermann Wilhelmsen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Levi Homburger in the 48th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Henning Ripoll made a kick off. In the 51st match minute, Ludwigsburg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnd Vuranoglu to maneuver through the defense. sad's Hermann Wilhelmsen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save sad from getting a goal against them. 61 minutes into the match, sad's Egmund Ziganner sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Isidor Arendt narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mario Gliesche recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 65 minutes into the match, sad's goalkeeper Hermann Wilhelmsen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lutz Öchsle. A collision led to sad getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Bastian Wiederhold hit a great ball. Bastian Wiederhold took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Isidor Arendt. Isidor Arendt dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Hermann Wilhelmsen didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 71st minute, which inside left pole to 1-2. Isidor Arendt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bastian Wiederhold, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 77th minute, Bolko Kalleder left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The sad fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Bastian Wiederhold kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. 88 minutes into the game, sad's Bastian Wiederhold nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Isidor Arendt made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. 95 minutes into the match, Bolko Kalleder notched a goal, 4-2, to the right of Ludwigsburg's Isidor Arendt. Isidor Arendt was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
