Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Dušan Černík started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd minute, Ulf Åkesson fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Stefan Nohel, passed just outside the right post. Dušan Černík struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. Stefan Nohel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AC Sparta Praha. Stefan Nohel was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Dušan Černík showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 6 minute of play. After having played for 8 minutes, Dušan Černík managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AC Sparta Praha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dušan Černík was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Barca getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Jiří Janečka hit a great ball. Ulf Åkesson received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Stefan Nohel came out and tried to block the shot, but Ulf Åkesson slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 12th minute. Ondřej Klimek fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stefan Nohel having to interfere. Erik Kolín sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bogdan Czarnecki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dan Snížek, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 28 minutes, Erik Kolín managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AC Sparta Praha's attentive Ondřej Klimek managed to snatch the ball when Bedřich Teplý made a throw-in in the 36th minute of the game. In the 39th minute Dan Snížek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bogdan Czarnecki saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Barca's zone, Dušan Černík stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stefan Nohel came out of the goal and Dušan Černík tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Ulf Åkesson came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the AC Sparta Praha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ulf Åkesson couldn't finish the play. When Ondřej Klimek fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AC Sparta Praha's protests and gave Ondřej Klimek a yellow card for diving instead. Ondřej Klimek kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Ulf Åkesson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stefan Nohel having to interfere. In the 55th minute, Dušan Černík left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AC Sparta Praha fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Ondřej Klimek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Barca defense, Ondřej Klimek kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Stefan Nohel. The Barca fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Stefan Nohel should have stopped the shot. 65 minutes into the game, Dušan Černík cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Stefan Nohel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. AC Sparta Praha's Bogdan Czarnecki played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jiří Janečka in the 73rd minute of play. 76 minutes into the match, Barca's goal looked a bit too open when Dušan Černík came free, but Stefan Nohel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Barca's Jiří Janečka got his second yellow card of the match in the 76th minute. The referee ordered Jiří Janečka off the ground. In the 77th match minute, Barca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jiří Janečka to maneuver through the defense. 79 minutes into the game, AC Sparta Praha's Dušan Černík nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Stefan Nohel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-0. If Dušan Černík had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Erik Kolín sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dave Sliepers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stefan Nohel having to interfere. Stefan Nohel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dušan Černík in the 96th minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. AC Sparta Praha fully deserved thier win.
