The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Riti HC's Florian Locher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnaldo Suter in the 16th minute of play. Adalbero Ferrante might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Florian Locher. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Adalbero Ferrante ran back to his position shaking his head. Florian Locher made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adalbero Ferrante in the 17th minute of play. Adalbero Ferrante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Florian Locher having to interfere. When Lamberto Buccino came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Riti HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lamberto Buccino couldn't finish the play. 35 minutes into the game, Andre Gier was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Melano's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Riti HC the free kick.
