The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the game, Maxence Mächler recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Farid Finger. Maxence Mächler showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Rasul Gräf showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Henri Stinde in the 8th minute of the match. Carol Pascolo charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Carol Pascolo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 9th minute, Carol Pascolo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rasul Gräf showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basilius Saluz, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. The audience was convinced that Ivan Lehmann's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rasul Gräf was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. Irenäus Beyer hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Rasul Gräf made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henri Stinde in the 17th minute of play. FC Thun 1898's Farid Finger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Domenico Ruckstuhl in the 19th minute of play. After 21 played minutes FC Thun 1898 got a freekick which was hit by Basilius Saluz. Kevin Baumberger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Farid Finger having to interfere. Carol Pascolo got his second yellow card in the match during the 26th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 26th match minute, Yverdon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carol Pascolo to maneuver through the defense. 36 minutes into the match, FC Thun 1898's goal looked a bit too open when Domenico Ruckstuhl came free, but Farid Finger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Domenico Ruckstuhl kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Farid Finger. That made the score 2-0 in the 39 minute of play. Rasul Gräf took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Basilius Saluz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Irenäus Beyer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Yverdon's supporters rose to their feet, but Irenäus Beyer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Farid Finger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Basilius Saluz to strike the kick off in the second half. Basilius Saluz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rasul Gräf having to interfere. Yverdon's Rasul Gräf played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henri Stinde in the 53rd minute of play. Luca Apilongo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rasul Gräf having to interfere. Farid Finger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Domenico Ruckstuhl in the 60th minute of the match. Farid Finger didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Domenico Ruckstuhl went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Maxence Mächler kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Yverdon's zone, Henri Stinde stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rasul Gräf came out of the goal and Henri Stinde tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 75 minutes, Henri Stinde managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Thun 1898's supporters crossed their fingers, but Henri Stinde was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 77 minutes into the match, Basilius Saluz notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Yverdon's Rasul Gräf. Rasul Gräf was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luca Apilongo during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Luca Apilongo hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. In the 88th minute, Kevin Baumberger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ivan Lehmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Rasul Gräf tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of FC Thun 1898 booed when Yverdon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Domenico Ruckstuhl didn't get a good kick on the ball. 95 minutes into the match, Yverdon's goalkeeper Rasul Gräf had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Basilius Saluz. Yverdon were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of FC Thun 1898 for a fine match.
