Alois Von took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Laderoute, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Piet Feer made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Hans Rothschild sent off a good shot on target. Farid Lamontagne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice moves Igor Zulle could shoot a difficult shot in the 23rd minute, which Piet Feer however easily saved by the left post. 24 minutes into the game, Hans Rothschild cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Piet Feer was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to FC Barcelona getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Paulus Zihlmann hit a great ball. 30 minutes into the match, FC Barcelona's Herwig Mazuret sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alois Von narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Denis Raiola in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Piet Feer saved FC Barcelona from getting behind. 35 minutes into the match, Aarau HC's goal looked a bit too open when Farid Lamontagne came free, but Alois Von reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Paulus Zihlmann managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Barcelona's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulus Zihlmann was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alois Von breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. FC Barcelona's Piet Feer proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save FC Barcelona from getting a goal against them. FC Barcelona's Farid Lamontagne got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alois Von showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Farid Lamontagne in the 42nd minute of the match. In the 45th minute Farid Lamontagne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alois Von saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 46 minutes into the match, FC Barcelona's Farid Lamontagne sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alois Von narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alois Von showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Farid Lamontagne, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. In the 48th minute of the match FC Barcelona got a corner. Aarau HC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gavin Giacomozzi ran over to the corner to take the kick.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Farid Lamontagne to strike the kick off in the second half. Piet Feer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denis Raiola, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Alois Von made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Farid Lamontagne in the 63rd minute of play. FC Barcelona's Carlos Laderoute got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Farid Lamontagne recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Farid Lamontagne who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 74thth minute tested the skills of Alois Von when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 77 minutes in the game, Farid Lamontagne fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Alois Von having to interfere. Farid Lamontagne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Farid Lamontagne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Carlos Laderoute managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Barcelona's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Laderoute was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alois Von breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 89 played minutes Aarau HC got a freekick which was hit by Gael Schlafli. Piet Feer was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Farid Lamontagne struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Alois Von didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Barcelona. With a little luck, Aarau HC's Alois Von got control of the ball when Farid Lamontagne tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Carlos Laderoute managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Barcelona's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Laderoute was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alois Von breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Aarau HC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
