Berthold Winkel in the 18thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Fabian Gisler didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Winikon. The supporters of Winikon booed when Monte Brè was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olympio Helmholz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stephan Lejeune took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patrice Tanguay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Winikon lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
