Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Graben's Hennes Giacomini started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Hennes Giacomini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Graben booed when FC Volketswil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michael Archambault didn't get a good kick on the ball. Serge Frei showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hennes Giacomini in the 17th minute of the match. Bernhard Jolidon could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Serge Frei made a huge save. Graben's Hennes Giacomini got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee felt a red card was in order, 28 minutes into the game, when Claudius Wy put in a rough tackle. In the 27th minute, one of Graben:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Graben. The referee gave FC Volketswil a penalty, 30 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Michael Archambault, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Graben's Udo Wider. 1-1. When Gilberto Gygax fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Graben's protests and gave Gilberto Gygax a yellow card for diving instead. After 34 played minutes Graben got a freekick which was hit by Gilberto Gygax. Graben's Urs Fenstermacher got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bernhard Jolidon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Serge Frei having to interfere. After some careless play in the FC Volketswil defense, Bernhard Jolidon kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Serge Frei. The FC Volketswil fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Serge Frei should have stopped the shot.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Salvatore Ruano was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Urs Fenstermacher left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Graben fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Bernhard Jolidon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Graben's supporters rose to their feet, but Bernhard Jolidon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Serge Frei breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
