Goran Pfeiffer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvester Alessandro having to interfere. In the 28th match minute, Fc Schönenwerd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bob Merkt to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Fc Schönenwerd's zone, Allan Perktold stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Henri Weiss came out of the goal and Allan Perktold tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee ignored Fc Schönenwerd's protests and gave Hasso Studer a yellow card for diving instead. After 45 played minutes Fc Schönenwerd got a freekick which was hit by Hasso Studer. If Baptiste Maurer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Baptiste Maurer was the one to do the kick off. After 53 minutes, Alois Zihler made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Winterthur's Silvester Alessandro tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Fc Schönenwerd's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
