With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gus Bösch prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Colin Verreau recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Steve Kobel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FC Rio Tinto's Colin Verreau got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, NEWELLS SWISS BOYS's Carolo Pagomari got a free kick in the 17th minute. In the 18th minute Rainer Marthaler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franziskus Fugère saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th match minute, FC Rio Tinto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Patt to maneuver through the defense. Gus Bösch showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roger Farber, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. In the 24th match minute, NEWELLS SWISS BOYS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mitja Ziegler to maneuver through the defense. In the 26th minute, Colin Verreau reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Franziskus Fugère. The goal made the score 1-0. In the 30th minute, Steve Kobel ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gus Bösch was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Gus Bösch showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jean-Christophe Da Frassini in the 33rd minute of the match. In the 33rd minute, Jean-Christophe Da Frassini made a precise shot to the right of Gus Bösch. FC Rio Tinto's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. FC Rio Tinto's Oswin Urfer pulled a muscle in his back after 36 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Dominique Kraus charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dominique Kraus the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. FC Rio Tinto made a substitution. Sidney Schurter replaced Oswin Urfer. The supporters of FC Rio Tinto booed when NEWELLS SWISS BOYS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dominique Kraus didn't get a good kick on the ball. Franziskus Fugère made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sidney Schurter in the 47th minute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Steve Kobel to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to FC Rio Tinto getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Rainer Marthaler hit a great ball. Franziskus Fugère took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rainer Marthaler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rainer Marthaler in the 59th minute of play forced NEWELLS SWISS BOYS's goalkeeper Franziskus Fugère to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of NEWELLS SWISS BOYS booed when FC Rio Tinto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Colin Verreau didn't get a good kick on the ball. NEWELLS SWISS BOYS's Franziskus Fugère played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicola Frei in the 89th minute of play. Franziskus Fugère came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by FC Rio Tinto's Rainer Marthaler. But to his dismay, Rainer Marthaler quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. FC Rio Tinto were victorious despite being under pressure from NEWELLS SWISS BOYS for much of the match.
