The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Emery Heller hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Frasier Huber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lionel Paly having to interfere. The supporters of SalentoUnited booed when FC Wil 1900 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Philipp Santagapita didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bunda Grande made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Pirmin Jäggi sent off a good shot on target. Bunda Grande came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Wil 1900's Pirmin Jäggi. But to his dismay, Pirmin Jäggi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Frasier Huber received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Lionel Paly tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 20th match minute, FC Wil 1900 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Téo Rosa to maneuver through the defense. Lionel Paly showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucien Favre, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frasier Huber in the 27th minute of play forced FC Wil 1900's goalkeeper Lionel Paly to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, SalentoUnited's Bunda Grande got control of the ball when Pirmin Jäggi tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tory Pryor could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Bunda Grande made a huge save. Friedrich Nietzsche got a throw-in 43 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Pirmin Jäggi. Fabian Maina kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. A collision led to SalentoUnited getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Fabian Maina hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pawel Gotfryd to strike the kick off in the second half. Bernhard Zollinger made a great header on FC Wil 1900's corner, it was just that SalentoUnited's Bunda Grande managed to reach the ball for a save. Tory Pryor hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. With a little luck, FC Wil 1900's Lionel Paly got control of the ball when Pawel Gotfryd tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 61st minute, Téo Rosa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Wil 1900 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. The throw-in from Bernhard Zollinger in the 64th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by SalentoUnited's Peter Marti. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pawel Gotfryd got free with Lionel Paly in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. SalentoUnited's Bunda Grande played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Téo Rosa in the 71st minute of play. In the 72nd match minute, FC Wil 1900 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pirmin Jäggi to maneuver through the defense. Bunda Grande made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Téo Rosa in the 75th minute of play. 77 minutes into the match, SalentoUnited's goal looked a bit too open when Pirmin Jäggi came free, but Bunda Grande reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SalentoUnited made a substitution. Fidel Ciprella replaced Edgar Meier. Bernhard Zollinger made in the 83rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by SalentoUnited's Fabian Maina. Lionel Paly made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Pawel Gotfryd sent off a good shot on target. Friedrich Nietzsche made in the 86th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Friedrich Nietzsche however managed to control. In the 88th play minute Pawel Gotfryd came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Lionel Paly. 4-1. Pawel Gotfryd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lionel Paly having to interfere.
