Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Lorenzo Van Leemputten took the kick off in the first half of the match. When Janes Abrams came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the AFC Avennes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Janes Abrams couldn't finish the play. Brend Loots showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilles Custermans, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Christiaan Van Bever charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Christiaan Van Bever the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 11 played minutes AFC Avennes got a freekick which was hit by Christiaan Van Bever. In the 16th match minute, AFC Avennes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henri-Xavier Van Der Meren to maneuver through the defense. Gert-Jan Goens took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 16th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Brend Loots. AFC Avennes's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Janes Abrams took the ball and in the 29 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Herald Persoens. Herald Persoens dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Herald Persoens made an important save on a dangerous shot by Janes Abrams in the 32nd minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Artur Van Goolen was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, AFC Avennes's Brend Loots got control of the ball when Gilles Custermans tried to sneak it across the goal line. Brend Loots showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lorenzo Van Leemputten, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Janes Abrams recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Herald Persoens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Artur Van Goolen, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. In the 79th minute, Janes Abrams got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 81 minutes into the match, R.Standard Liège's goal looked a bit too open when Artur Van Goolen came free, but Herald Persoens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. R.Standard Liège had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
