Seating: 1736, VIP seats: 150) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Steffen Nelis kicked off to start the match. Walderdonk's Herbert Van Meensel managed to work through Liedekerke's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Herbert Van Meensel dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. 8 minutes into the match, Walderdonk's Mitch Velkeneers sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wim Streels narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mitch Velkeneers in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wim Streels saved Liedekerke from getting behind. In the 12th minute Steffen Nelis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jordi Suteweij saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mitch Velkeneers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some careless play in the Liedekerke defense, Herbert Van Meensel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wim Streels. The Liedekerke fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wim Streels should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Liedekerke getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Izak Bekaert hit a great ball. Rocky Van Hespen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jordi Suteweij read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, Walderdonk's goal looked a bit too open when Steffen Nelis came free, but Jordi Suteweij reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wim Streels took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mitch Velkeneers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Liedekerke's Willy Olbrechts got a free kick in the 28th minute. When Mitch Velkeneers came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Walderdonk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mitch Velkeneers couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Herbert Van Meensel got free with Wim Streels in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mitch Velkeneers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Wim Streels tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Herbert Van Meensel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Liedekerke's Wim Streels got control of the ball when Mitch Velkeneers tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Herbert Van Meensel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
54 minutes into the match, Izak Bekaert notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Walderdonk's Jordi Suteweij. Jordi Suteweij was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Liedekerke's zone, Mitch Velkeneers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wim Streels came out of the goal and Mitch Velkeneers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 60 minutes of play, Walderdonk's Mitch Velkeneers made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wim Streels was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mitch Velkeneers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Wim Streels tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wim Streels made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Herbert Van Meensel in the 76th minute of play. In the 79th minute Herbert Van Meensel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wim Streels saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Steffen Nelis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jordi Suteweij having to interfere. Liedekerke's Wim Streels played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Herbert Van Meensel in the 83rd minute of play. Herbert Van Meensel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wim Streels having to interfere. Mitch Velkeneers struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Wim Streels didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Walderdonk. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Walderdonk had played much better football throughout.
