The audience thought a goal was coming when Teo Coekelbergh got free with Steffen Vanderhaege in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Dave Van Caubergen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Tuur Van Havent was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 17 minutes into the match. In the 17th minute, one of Wolvertem-Merchtem:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Wolvertem-Merchtem. Frank Elssen shot the penalty kick right outside the post. 21 minutes into the match, Raymond Van Hecke notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Wolvertem-Merchtem's Jannes Meulemans. Jannes Meulemans was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Nicolas Kerstens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Steffen Vanderhaege dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 46th minute, Marnix Walters left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The VC Tginee fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nicolas Kerstens to strike the kick off in the second half. Matias Van den Maegdenbergh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steffen Vanderhaege having to interfere. In the 53rd minute, Dave Van Caubergen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wart Uijterhoven sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nicolas Kerstens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steffen Vanderhaege having to interfere. Steffen Vanderhaege showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matias Van den Maegdenbergh, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. After 63 minutes of play, Wolvertem-Merchtem's Matias Van den Maegdenbergh made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Steffen Vanderhaege was left in no man's land by his defense there! Steffen Vanderhaege showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wart Uijterhoven, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. In the 69th minute Matias Van den Maegdenbergh shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Steffen Vanderhaege saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. VC Tginee's Steffen Vanderhaege played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolas Kerstens in the 78th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wart Uijterhoven in the 80th minute of play forced VC Tginee's goalkeeper Steffen Vanderhaege to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wart Uijterhoven fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steffen Vanderhaege having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wart Uijterhoven in the 86th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Steffen Vanderhaege prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Wart Uijterhoven received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Steffen Vanderhaege tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sam Jooris sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There was no doubt that Wolvertem-Merchtem were the better team. Wolvertem-Merchtem's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
