After a defensive mix-up in VV Deurne's zone, Didier Verhulst stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Philipp Matthieu came out of the goal and Didier Verhulst tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 8th minute, Gilian De Wortelaer reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Philipp Matthieu. The goal made the score 1-0. Anthonio Verdonckt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Etienne Smoors, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Willem-Alexander Stuckens managed to get in a good position for a shot. VV Deurne's supporters rose to their feet, but Willem-Alexander Stuckens was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anthonio Verdonckt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. KFC Dergneau's Anthonio Verdonckt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Etienne Smoors in the 16th minute of play. 19 minutes into the game, one of KFC Dergneau:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. If Gilian De Wortelaer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Philipp Matthieu made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Didier Verhulst sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 27 minutes, Gilian De Wortelaer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. KFC Dergneau's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilian De Wortelaer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Etienne Smoors struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Anthonio Verdonckt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VV Deurne. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gilian De Wortelaer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. KFC Dergneau's Fred Van de Loock got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, KFC Dergneau's Fredrik Hennes got a free kick in the 57th minute. Anthonio Verdonckt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Etienne Smoors in the 61st minute of the match. 61 minutes into the game, Ben Cremers was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. KFC Dergneau's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave VV Deurne the free kick. After a rather tough play, KFC Dergneau's Ben Cremers got a free kick in the 61st minute. In the 62nd minute, Etienne Smoors fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Anthonio Verdonckt, passed just outside the right post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Didier Verhulst in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Philipp Matthieu saved VV Deurne from getting behind. Didier Verhulst sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 88 played minutes VV Deurne got a freekick which was hit by Sem Cockaerts. Gilian De Wortelaer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Philipp Matthieu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
