Spectators: 7504 (Terracing: 5629, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 149) Pierre Goovaers made the kick off and thus started the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gunther Gressens in the 3rd minute of play forced Royal Union Auderghem's goalkeeper Giovanny Gillekens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnaud Roussel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pierre Goovaers's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. After having played for 6 minutes, Michel Claevers managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Diest's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michel Claevers was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Andrew Hostens hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Anton Van Hoeyvelt was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 12th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 16th minute Pierre Goovaers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnaud Roussel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Jacob Borginions had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pierre Goovaers might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arnaud Roussel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pierre Goovaers ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the FC Diest defense, Pierre Goovaers kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnaud Roussel. The FC Diest fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnaud Roussel should have stopped the shot. In the 30th match minute, FC Diest was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Van Clynenbreugel to maneuver through the defense. 34 minutes into the match, Royal Union Auderghem's goal looked a bit too open when Gunther Gressens came free, but Giovanny Gillekens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 36 minutes into the game, Gunther Gressens recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Giovanny Gillekens. Gunther Gressens showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Gunther Gressens managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Diest's supporters rose to their feet, but Gunther Gressens was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Giovanny Gillekens breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jacob Borginions sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gunther Gressens to strike the kick off in the second half. Giovanny Gillekens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michel Claevers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 81 played minutes FC Diest got a freekick which was hit by Andrew Hostens. Royal Union Auderghem's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Anton Van Hoeyvelt in the 83rd minute. Pierre Goovaers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Peter Diericx struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Giovanny Gillekens didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Diest.
