The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 played minutes BluB FC got a freekick which was hit by Piet De Rijck. Eric Van Buyten took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Simons, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Herman Swin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eric Van Buyten having to make a save. If Herman Swin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivan Simons in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eric Van Buyten prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Laurens Celis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eric Van Buyten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herman Swin, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Kristen Jaspers in the 18thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jannes Vissenaekens, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Jordi De Maerschalck kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind BluB FC's goalkeeper Eric Van Buyten, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Harald Geldhof fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jannes Vissenaekens having to interfere. K. Sint-Truiden V.V.'s Ivan Simons got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When K. Sint-Truiden V.V.'s Herman Swin in the 46th minute got a chance for a shot 46th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye BluB FC's goalie prevented a goal.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ivan Simons to strike the kick off in the second half. Eric Van Buyten made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Herman Swin sent off a good shot on target. Harald Geldhof hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Through an outstanding action, after 57 minutes, Eric Van Buyten successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Bas Weba kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. If Kristen Jaspers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Kristen Jaspers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jannes Vissenaekens read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. Jannes Vissenaekens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Richy Roels, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. BluB FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 70th minute, when Ivan Simons scored to the left of an out of position Eric Van Buyten, making the score, 0-1. BluB FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Ivan Simons 73 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-2. If Herman Swin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 78 minutes into the game, Kenny Viskens was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. BluB FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave K. Sint-Truiden V.V. the free kick. In the 78th match minute, BluB FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kenny Viskens to maneuver through the defense. If Richy Roels had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guido Verdeyen, 86 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Eric Van Buyten showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivan Simons in the 89th minute of the match. If Ivan Simons had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Kristen Jaspers managed to get in a good position for a shot. BluB FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Kristen Jaspers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jannes Vissenaekens breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The K. Sint-Truiden V.V. supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing K. Sint-Truiden V.V. would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
