The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Wart Keldermans showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 9 minutes into the game, De Matoekoes's Brent-Jan De Coster nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Felix Teunens made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. De Matoekoes's Wart Keldermans played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jarno Vleminx in the 13th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Achilles Hendricks notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Benfica Lisboà's Felix Teunens. Felix Teunens was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The crowd rose to their feet as Achilles Koninkx kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Felix Teunens. That made the score 3-0 in the 19 minute of play. After 23 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for De Matoekoes! Wart Keldermans had in the 25thth minute some difficulties stopping Theo Koninkx's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After a rather tough play, Benfica Lisboà's Theo Koninkx got a free kick in the 25th minute. Jacobus Elzen's late challenge caught a Benfica Lisboà's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jacobus Elzen helped the player get up and apologised. Jacobus Elzen hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. De Matoekoes's Wart Keldermans played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henri-Xavier Belmans in the 29th minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, De Matoekoes's goal looked a bit too open when Vince Van Geel came free, but Wart Keldermans reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Benfica Lisboà defense, Brent-Jan De Coster kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Felix Teunens. The Benfica Lisboà fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Felix Teunens should have stopped the shot. 46 minutes into the match, Vince Van Geel notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of De Matoekoes's Wart Keldermans. Wart Keldermans was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Achilles Koninkx to strike the kick off in the second half. Claude Wenderix kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Vince Van Geel could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Wart Keldermans made a huge save. Ronny Hofnagels lost his temper 59 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 58th minute of the game. One of De Matoekoes:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Benfica Lisboà:s goal. In the 60th minute, Theo Koninkx left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Benfica Lisboà fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. In the 65th minute, Jarno Vleminx got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the De Matoekoes defense, Jarno Vleminx kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wart Keldermans. The De Matoekoes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wart Keldermans should have stopped the shot. Wart Keldermans made an important save on a dangerous shot by Henri-Xavier Belmans in the 70th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jarno Vleminx in the 78th minute of play forced De Matoekoes's goalkeeper Wart Keldermans to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benfica Lisboà were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing De Matoekoes to leave the ground with a draw.
