Rens Van Damme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilian Descamps in the 8th minute of the match. In the 10th minute Corneel Toussain shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rens Van Damme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind KV Tongrinne's goalkeeper Jarne Van Hinnendaels, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gilian Descamps recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rens Van Damme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilian Descamps in the 23rd minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Gilian Descamps left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The KV Tongrinne fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 32 minutes into the match, Chelsea's goal looked a bit too open when Corneel Toussain came free, but Rens Van Damme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 38th match minute, Chelsea was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Didier Demeester to maneuver through the defense. Boudewijn Dewinter might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jarne Van Hinnendaels. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Boudewijn Dewinter ran back to his position shaking his head. 48 minutes into the match, KV Tongrinne's goalkeeper Jarne Van Hinnendaels had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Stan Smeulders. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gilian Descamps to make the kick off. Gilian Descamps fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rens Van Damme having to interfere. In the 60th minute Gilian Descamps shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rens Van Damme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. KV Tongrinne's Jarne Van Hinnendaels played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stan Smeulders in the 76th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Boudewijn Dewinter managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chelsea's supporters rose to their feet, but Boudewijn Dewinter was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jarne Van Hinnendaels breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 85 minutes, Jerry Van Gheel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the KV Tongrinne and the Chelsea players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jerry Van Gheel hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Gilian Descamps recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
