The referee showed Guy Stevens the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 15 played minutes Birmingham United got a freekick which was hit by Guy Stevens. If Frank Valckx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frank Valckx received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Frederic Waeberghe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Birmingham United booed when SC Brussels was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frederic Waeberghe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Brussels. Yoachim Van Bettenrode fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frederic Waeberghe having to interfere. In the 83rd minute, Qwinten Van Meel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, SC Brussels's Jaspar De Bougne got a free kick in the 89th minute. Yoachim Van Bettenrode fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frederic Waeberghe having to interfere. Jannis Ivens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gill De Leger in the 96th minute of the match. In the 97th minute Guy Stevens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jannis Ivens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mathias-Alexander Van Eersel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 99th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. There was no doubt that SC Brussels were the better team. SC Brussels's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
