In the 15th minute Nestor Cruz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tony Vandenberge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Dirk Toeback had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Waut Van Der Meeren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lennert Van der Vloedt, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 23 minutes into the game, when Jesús De la Torre put in a rough tackle. After 24 played minutes Anversa Club got a freekick which was hit by Jesús De la Torre. After 25 played minutes, RWDM's Conny Komen shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Waut Van Der Meeren came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in RWDM reached it. In the 26th minute, Lennert Van der Vloedt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Anversa Club's Waut Van Der Meeren proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Anversa Club from getting a goal against them. Waut Van Der Meeren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dirk Toeback, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dirk Toeback made a kick off. Mickael De Winter charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mickael De Winter the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Anversa Club's Mickael De Winter got a free kick in the 51st minute. Waut Van Der Meeren came out of the goal and Conny Komen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. RWDM were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Anversa Club for a fine match.
